Busy Weekend

We did quite a bit this weekend. We drove down to Guilford, CT with my mom and visited with her side of the family for the first time since Aidan came along. There’s three more videos and a bunch of photos to show from it too. Sunday Jaime gave me the gift of work. With the nice weather she let me get out into the garage and do some serious, overdue cleaning. It made me very happy to get my workshop back together again but I could still spend another few days out there.

Saturday was a nice trip. We left around 11:45 and pulled in around 1:30. Its a trip I remembered taking nearly three hours as a kid so its nice for it to be shorter now. We stopped in with Jim, Liz, Shelby, and Millio but shortly thereafter more family showed. My moms aunts and uncles and cousins stopped by to say hello and get a baby fix. Aidan was pretty well behaved over all but he did manage to sleep an aweful lot. Lately he’s only been sleeping for an hour or so all day long so his long naps in the car came with a price. Neither of us got much sleep on Saturday night.

The best surprise of the weekend was Aidan’s first laugh! I was playing with him on the sofa, making him do a little dance, when I started twisting him back and forth. He gave me a big smile, which I take as “Keep going, daddy!”, so I kept it up. He smiled even bigger and laughed out loud! I did it a couple more times as Jaime scambled for the camera but by the time she came back we was tired of the game and wouldn’t laugh anymore. You can see the failed attempts here. Never fear though, now that I know the formula, I’ll get him again and this time we’ll have the camera ready!

New Feature: Video!

I’ve installed a plugin that allows me to post streaming video to the blog. Our new camera takes pretty good video clips that are a nearly perfect size and length for streaming video clips. For the time being most of the clips will probably be of Aidan but who knows what we could shoot!

The way it works is simple. I post a picture or link to the video, you click on it, and the video opens in a pop up window. It will take a little time to load the video the first time depending on your connection. The only big requirement is that you have Macromedia Flash installed on your machine. Its a pretty common, safe program and is available for free. You may have it already so don’t download it unless the videos don’t work for you.

At some point there will be a page devoted to archive of videos but I can’t get to work yet. Stay tuned!

He Looks Nothing Like Me

Sorry about the delay folks. I hope I haven’t screwed up your lunch hour too bad. I’m running a little late today because I’m farting around with a new feature that will allow me to post streaming videos to the site. Obviously, I haven’t got it working yet.

Aidan has been sleeping a ton lately. He slept most of the day both days this weekend and still managed a respectable amount of sleep at night. I have a feeling he may be going through some sort of a growth spurt and I’m going to home to find he doesn’t fit in any of his clothes anymore. The other possibility is that he’s fighting a cold. He’s been breathing a little loudly lately but that’s his only symptom. It certainly doesn’t seem to bother him.

Its a busy lunch break today so I’ll cut this short. I may or may not be able to post later. I know I’m lat for a TMFC post but it may have to wait until tonight.
